Hair, Thistle, and Sticks

So I'm a day longer than I had planned to wait to post but, here are the sketches for the last three days.

The first one is a guy I work with at Target.  Yep. His hair is that long... longer in real life I think :P

The thorny flower looking thing is a thistle. I did my best to draw it from memory, Mostly I was trying out my new colored pencils that I got for my birthday. They're awesome!

The last one wasn't so much a drawing as a study.. Basically I just watched people walk around and drew their "action line", shoulder, and waist line. My friend Marla told me about a professor of hers that made her fill an entire sketchbook of these little guys, so I thought I'd try it out. :P

Thor Watching

The first one, I was people watching on my lunch break. I'm happy with how they turned out, considering I didn't spend more than a minute on each one (They were moving and didn't know I was drawing them :P)

The second one... well... I went to see Thor in the theater. It was good, I laugh alot, but we got home late, I laid down in bed, and suddenly sat up! "OH MY GOD! I forgot to do my drawing for the day!"
"Why don't you draw Thor's hammer?" My husband says to me. And I did. :P It's not the greatest hammer I've ever done... but I did do it before midnight so... :P

Limited

I tried to focus on the eyes on this one, thus the pile of eyes off to the side.. that's also why nothing looks in proportion, and her hands are not finished, that and only having a half hour to work on it during my lunch break kinda limited how much time I could put into it. :P

Faint

So yesterday I tried to do foreshortening.. it didn't turn out too well. All I got were sketches that didn't show much promise, but I tried none-the-less, and thats what counts... right? They're really faint.. :P

Skinny

I'm really proud of this. I think the shading, and definition looks really great! Kinda skinny.. but great!

Letters, and Toddlers

So yesterday I feel like I cheated.. yes I did work on a drawing, but I can only show you part of it...

Today, I tried to draw Bella as she watched a movie on the couch with me. Let me tell you it's not easy drawing a toddler.. they never sit still! I purposefully didn't draw her facial features, I was trying to work on just the over all shape as opposed to the details.

Wildflower

One more for the day, and I'm caught up. I don't even have to worry about today's :P 

I found this flower while playing with my daughter outside. It was growing out of the ground just how I drew it. Up, over, up, and over again.. it's why I choose it for my study today. :P I don't know what it's called. I'm assuming it's some kind of wildflower.. anyone know??

Don't Tell

Don't ask... I have no idea what's up with the eye ball looking thing.. I was.. I have no idea what time it was when I did it.. O_O
The cop is actually the security guard at the Target where I work. He would have had another hand.. and feet.. but I ran out of space... yes I drew him on a piece of register tape. :P

Not Giving Up

I'm SOO proud of the woman.. I actually got the idea for that one late at night staring at the shadows on the ceiling. :P
Then hands I'm not so happy with, the fingers look too short to me, but then I was trying to draw them cupped, like they were holding an invisible bowl.. or something. so I guess the fingers should look that way. :P

Geeks

Okay, My computer was on the fritz, so here is the posts for the last few days. The first on is a compilation of the four Starbucks gals I worked with on that day done in silly comic style. The second one is a profile (BAD profile) of another team member at work. And the last on is a family crest I kinda pulled outta my hat for Tony, Bell and I. Now that I'm looking at it, I'm thinking it should have a computer of some sort seeing as were both such geeks...

Lunch

So you get to see what I had for lunch. :P I do hafta admit, I wasn't happy with this when I put it into the scanner, but after I got it onto the computer, I looked at it again, and I'm happier with it. MUCH happier with it. The spots were supposed to give it character.. but I'm not sure it turn out quite as I'd intended. Ah well c'est la vie.

Cinco De Mayo/Fabric

I neglected to post my drawing for yesterday, so here it is. My tribute to the Mexican Holiday. 


As for today, it's just a blanket that I draped over a chair. I think it came out pretty good for a first real attempt at cloth. :D

Cinderella

I saw this while watching Cinderella with my daughter (again) and I really like the candle sconces. :P It was supposed to be more leafy, than feathery, but I kinda like it better this way :)

Abstract

Funny thing about Techno, it has this side affect of being inspiring.. but only towards the abstract... just an observation. *shrug*


I just realized I didn't rotate it when I scanned it.. but honestly.. it looks pretty much the same no matter which way you look at it... LOL

Knot

I've seen this design around.. in lots of different places. The arch with side by side circles.. I added what was supposed to be just the flower of the trillium but.. it looks more like a Celtic three sided trinity knot... *shrug* oh well.. I think I might redo this on in photoshop.. or paint or something.. I need to be able to make exact circles.. :P

Trillium

Today is the first of May and although I didn't plan it, it seems only fitting that my drawing of the day should be a flower that embodies spring in all it's glory. The trillium. Lovely, delicate, and more leaf than flower, the trillium is, as my grandmother says "A sign that spring is truly here." 

We welcome you, harbinger of Spring.
