Despair

Sorry about the emo tone on the title :P It seemed appropriate considering how sad this chick looks. I'm using the red pencil because I was told it doesn't show up when you ink it and scan it in... Not sure if that true.. but if I ever find my pens then I'll let you know. :P

The comic I used as a reference is called Questionable Content. Go check it out sometime

Sacrificial Beauty

I call this piece "The Evil Red Shoe of Sacrificial Beauty". :P I went to a banquet last night, and wore a pair of 4 inch patent leather shoes. O_o They looked great, but were so freakin' painful to wear by the end of the night. I decided to use them as my muse for the night, and though it says "1-29-11" on the picture, again it was after midnight, so technically it was todays drawing. I'm home from the Great Wolf Lodge (where we had the banquet) so if I'm not too wore out by the weekend of fun and frolic, I'll do another one to make up for my cheating.

Questionable Content

Todays project was done yesterday.. but technically today since it was after midnight, I feel like I'm cheating, and I may do another one later to make up for it, but I'm going to be gone all day, so hear ya go.

Oh yeah the one on the bottom is not an original. I drew it while looking at a comic I read. http://www.questionablecontent.net/

Webcomic Dreams

I made an attempt at a webcomic once. I never got it online, but I drew up and inked about 16 strips before I stopped. I don't remember why I stopped, but honestly, I would like to do it again, I just don't seem to have an idea. Anyway, todays drawing is in the style of those comics. I thought it would be a nice trip down memory lane.

"Confused" I Think

So I honestly had NO idea what to do for today, which I hope doesn't become a trend... :(  Anyway I just started, and though I tried to portray anger, but I think it turned out to be closer to frustrated, or irritated instead. Somewhere in the middle I thought it would be interesting to try and do a "He who must not be named" (hehe Happy Potter joke) kinda thing, which is why the eyes are a bit longer than they should have been. In the end though I think it worked with the glasses and over all emotion I was trying to convey. I'm proud that I finally did an emotion that wasn't happy, or "innocence".

Wrinkles, and Folds

Found a tutorial about wrinkles on clothing, and since that is definitely not one of my strong points, I decided to do this one. It's always weird for me to not draw the whole body. It feels like I'm cheating.

After I was done, my husband came home with my box of art supplies,(they are currently being stored at my grandmas house.) and I found some drawings from a few years ago. I came across this one, and I just had to share it with you. It was one of the first I ever inked, and colored. I was so proud of it then, and aside from a few minor things, I have to say I'm still proud of it now.
Sometime in '08

I used another Mark Crilley tutorial to do todays study. Check out the link here:

Bellaroo

The more I looked at my sketch for the day, the more I disliked it... something about the eyes kept throwing me off. I guess it kinda reminded me of an alien the way the entire eye was the pupil. That really only works with more simplistic characters, Anywho... I decided to do a new drawing to make up for it. So here ya go.

Accidental face

My daughter is almost 2, and she watches a show called "Team Umizumi". I liked the eye style, so I thought I'd try it. I had planned on doing just the eyes, but before I knew it, it had turned into a whole face. *shrug* I could go either way today. I didn't plan the proportions out very well.. so the eyes look nice, but the rest of the face looks a bit off to me. *Meh* You're always your own worst critic right?

Junebug

So today I found a doodle I did the day my niece Juno was born. That was also the day that we decided what her nickname should be. Well I redid it, and used some of my new found eye drawing talent to make her look cutesy, not that she needs any help in the arena. :P Enjoy the cuteness that is "Junebug".

Touched by a Muse

So no matter what kind of artist you are, there is no doubt in my mind that at some point you have experienced the feeling of being touched by your muse (what ever it is). Which is why I did another drawing today. *shrug* It needed to be done :D

Ponytail braids

So This is the first one I've done without a tutorial. I'm proud! It took me a while (and alot of scratch paper) to figure out the braids. However, as nice as the over all drawing turned out, I've been trying to figure out why the eyes looked squished on the face. Then it dawned on me. When I did the guidelines for the placement of everything the eyes ended up a line lower than they should have... meh. I'm still happy with the over product. Practice practice, practice.

Unfinished

So tonight's sketch looks unfinished because it is. The tutorial I used was focused on the eye, not so much on the face, and the hair ect. I'm honestly not too happy with it, but then, I'm not going to be happy with EVERY drawing that I do. Practice, practice, practice.

Yes this is another Mark Crilley tutorial. Check out his you tube page here:

For the record, it may seem like I'm shamelessly promoting Mark Crilley since so far EVERY blog has had his name in it, but in reality all I'm trying to do is give credit to the guy who did the tutorials. :)

Innocence

So today was a "tutorial" on how to draw and innocent looking manga girl. I hafta say I'm very pleased with the result. :D I have a ways to go on the hair, but over all I'm very very happy with the way this turned out.

Comparisons

So today I did a tutorial that did a comparison between chibi, and semi-realistic styles of anime. I'm a little unsatisfied with the semi-realistic one, I think the face is a bit off.. but over I would call it a success.

Again, I did this drawing while watching a tutorial By Mark Crilley. Check out his youtube channel at: http://www.youtube.com/user/markcrilley?feature=chclk

Part Deux

So my husband told me that the second drawing I posted yesterday didn't count since I posted it before I went to sleep... even though TECHNICALLY it was today.. it was past midnight.. 12:35am.. or something like that...
Anyway, I did a new drawing for today to make up for it. :)

1-19-11 (2)
P.S. This was also done while watching a tutorial by Mark Crilley. Go check out his Youtube page.

You should always start at the beginning.

I had some friends that are doing their own "Project 365", with photos every morning, or a blog (little one) everyday... but.. this appealed to me. I've been wanting to draw more, and at least this way I hope I can be kept accountable if I don't. So let's see if I can keep it up for a year. To a better 2011!

So I should have posted the bottom one yesterday, but it was getting late before I could get the picture up. Currently, I'm not doing any NEW pieces just yet, I'm trying to get my sea legs back... In a manner of speaking. :P I've been following along with a wonderful artist my hubby found for me. (see his link at the bottom of the blog) Mark Crilley.

1-19-11
I'm MUCH more proud of this one, again I was just following along with the tutorial, but still it's nice to know that I CAN do this, I just need to practice, practice, practice!
